Black Friday is fast approaching and if your inbox looks anything like mine, it will be filling up with Black Friday offers. Discounts will be being thrown at you left, right and centre.
Whether you agree with the concept of Black Friday or not, in can be very useful if you want to make bigger purchases as you can save a lot of money, but it can also be a very tempting opportunity to buy things that you really don't need because you are getting swayed by the price point.
This is often where mistake purchases can be made and you end up buying things just because they are reduced.
If you have got your eye on something higher end, or that you would like for a Christmas present, then Black Friday is a great opportunity to get those items and take advantage of the lower price.
Here are my top tips for making the most of Black Friday offers.
Plan
Spend time before Black Friday, looking at the websites of the brands you like and note where the best deals are. Many department store websites now stock many brands so it is worth doing your homework to secure the best deal
Prioritise
Focus on wardrobe staples and timeless pieces. Black Friday is the perfect time to invest in quality items that will elevate your style, and that you wouldn’t normally buy at full price.
Write a list
Create a list of the things you really need to buy, this will stop you from getting carried away by the price tags and offers. Tempting though it is, stay true to your style by only buying what you need and what suits you, even if it is a total steal!
Sizing
Know what your sizing is across the different brands you are shopping from. This will avoid purchasing multiple pieces and therefore sending things back.
Apps & Websites
Make sure you are signed up to all your favourite stores, apps and websites as there are bound to be more offers available
Budget
Decide on a budget of what you are prepared to spend and keep a note of all the purchases you make so you don’t end up over spending.
Gifting
Black Friday is a great opportunity to buy someone an extra special gift as many brands have significant discounts. so do take advantage of these offers and either treat yourself or a loved one to something extra special from a higher end brand that you might not ordinarily be able to afford.
Shop Local
Shop local where you can and support the retailers in your local area. They might not have offers on at all and choose not to partake in Black Friday. Many are running on small margins as it is and cannot afford to reduce their prices. They really cannot compete with the big retailers so please show them your support and kindness.
Get Outside
Rather than visit the shopping centres on Black Friday, take a walk around your local town and browse the shops and coffee shops. Soak up that Christmas Spirit and maybe indulge in a Hot Chocolate and a Mince Pie in a local coffee shop or buy some locally made treats to take home. I really love to browse the little boutique type shops in person as you always find those little gifts that you wouldn’t find if you were shopping on-line, you also get to interact with shop owners and other customers and experience human connection which is so important.
Subscriptions & Experiences
Consider buying subscriptions & experiences as gifts this year. Be really considerate of gifting more things that can potentially clutter up someone’s home. These type of gifts are really such a great idea as often people wouldn’t buy these for themselves.
